Narayanan Lab

๐Ÿฅฝ Who are we?
Narayanan Lab is an academic research group led by Dr. Amal Narayanan in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida, Gainesville. We are set to host enthusiastic undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers who want to ask questions at the interface of polymer chemistry, soft materials, and biomolecular engineering. We actively seek individuals with interdisciplinary perspectives and varied experiences. If you are interested in joining the Narayanan Lab, please reach out to Amal at narayanana@ufl.edu. Check our Team Page for more details.

๐Ÿงช What we care about.
The mission of Narayanan Lab is to translate fundamental discoveries in the cellular states of matter into developing new human-health-centric technologies with synthetic polymers. In this process, we seek to learn new biology, synthesize advanced polymer materials, and discover emergent physical phenomena.

๐Ÿฃ Biomimicry with minimal molecular designs: With our expertise in synthesizing designer monomers and polymers, we create customized, protein-mimetic polymers.

๐Ÿงฌ Interfacing the synthetic polymers with biomacromolecules: By coupling polymer chemistry with molecular biology, we manipulate the molecular interactions in mesoscopic biomolecular assemblies.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Quantitative biophysics: We develop experimentally-driven physicochemical frameworks for the molecular-structure-function landscape of synthetic polymer-biological assembly interactions.

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ We value your stories and talents.
Narayanan Lab extends a warm welcome to individuals from all backgrounds. We value every opportunity to share the stories and research beyond the academic community through science communication, demos, and training next-generation colleagues.
